Scrivelle is a word processor for novelists, made by Fredy. This policy explains what the app does with your writing and your data. The short version: your documents stay wherever you save them, the app has no account and collects nothing, and text leaves your Mac only when you run the writing assistant with an AI service you chose to connect — and then only to that service.
Scrivelle has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no telemetry. The developer receives no data from the app.
Apple Intelligence. By default the writing assistant uses Apple’s on-device language model. Your text is processed on your Mac and is not sent anywhere.
AI services you connect. If you connect a provider in Settings — OpenAI (ChatGPT), Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), OpenRouter, or any server you name — then, each time you run an assistant task, Ask, or a cast tool, Scrivelle sends that provider the text the task needs:
That text is handled under the provider’s own terms and privacy policy, not this one. Scrivelle sends it only when you ask for an answer, only to the provider you chose, and never to the developer. The assistant pane always says which service is answering.
Ollama runs on your Mac; text sent to it does not leave your computer.
Sign in with ChatGPT. “Continue with ChatGPT” opens OpenAI’s sign-in page in your browser. Scrivelle receives tokens that let it use your ChatGPT plan, and your account’s email address to show you who is signed in. It never sees your password or your ChatGPT conversations. Signing out revokes the tokens.
Spelling. The spelling checker’s dictionaries are downloaded once, for your language, from the dictionary server used by the Chromium browser engine inside the app. No text of yours is sent for spell checking.
Opening links. Links you click in the app (a provider’s key page, say) open in your browser.
Scrivelle is not directed to children and collects no personal information from anyone.
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at the same address (https://fredychan.github.io/scrivelle-site/privacy) with a new date.
